Welcome, Tian Tian!

Tian Tian joined the University of California Cooperative Extension in January 2021 as the Area Viticulture Farm Advisor for Kern County. Tian grew up in China and obtained her B.S. in Viticulture and Enology at Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University in 2012. Motivated by the desire to gain more knowledge on grape production, Tian started a master’s program at California State University, Fresno and received her M.S. in Viticulture and Enology in 2015. Her thesis work focused on how shifting fruit ripening to a cooler period of the growing season influences the quality of wine grapes in the Fresno area. Tian earned her Ph.D. in Horticulture in 2020 at Oregon State University, Corvallis, where she studied how nitrogen management affects vine productivity, root growth, and soil microbes in the vineyard. Tian is excited to be back in the Central Valley and looks forward to working with local stakeholders and addressing their needs.
